In South Africa approximately
2.5 million girls miss 3 – 5 days of
school each month because they
cannot afford commercial sanitary pads.
Talking about periods in South Africa and other African cultures is often taboo. The result is menstruating girls and young women lack important feminine health education. They are socialized to be embarrassed or ashamed of their menstruation and are often labeled as ‘unclean’ during their period.
Period poverty limits menstruating girls and young women from living their best life, like attending school, working, playing sports, or even socializing. So DIA’s goal is to improve the lives of disadvantaged girls and young women by giving them access to adequate, safe, and reusable sanitary pads.
Our sponsorship initiative enables the beneficiaries to acquire a more inclusive menstrual cycle and feminine health education. In addition, we can also increase their awareness of environmental issues.

DIA’s primary goal is to better the lives of menstruating girls and young women in disadvantaged communities who need help with sanitary dignity. In addition, providing adequate period products will improve general health standards and ensure that the schoolgirls focus on their learning during menstruation and be given an equal and equitable chance to progress in education.
Sanitary dignity is vital to needy persons’ health, education, well-being and empowerment.
We have several options to choose from or we can customize to accommodate your requirements:
DIA can coordinate the pads to communities which are in need, or we can discuss the required recipient with you, the sponsor.
